The Gansey Diaries (ep 4)
I’m still slowly working my way through the stocking stitch phase. I've been away visiting my parents and don’t always get too much knitting time, because of course there are lots of other things to do!
My Dad’s health is not as good as it could be, so spending time with him and supporting Mum is very important. Dad loves to go out in the car for drives and given that they’re in the Highlands of Scotland, we are spoilt for choice on where to go.
And so we remain firmly in the stocking stitch section. I'm at 14cm and need it to reach 21cm, so it could be a while at my current knitting rate. I might have to find something else to babble about next week, just to save your boredom 😯

The Black Isle is a favourite. He used to work on the oil rigs many years ago, and there are usually some to be found in the large and deep Cromarty Firth on the north side of the Black Isle. Cruise ships also pop in and out, and the components of wind turbines are assembled.
Wrinkle, however, was also out and about and did get some photos on her travels... She is such a DIVA!

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that the seam stitches would be clearer once I got to the stocking stitch section. I've pinned it out to make it clearer, then see how it almost disappears when it's relaxed? It will look even better once it's blocked. And, this particular seam stitch option has the added benefit that the start to the gusset is already there for you, as you'll see soon(ish). The excitement is palpable.

Despite all the industry, it is a haven for wildlife, and a beautiful area. The mountains in and around the Ben Wyvis National Nature Reserve serve as a panoramic backdrop, past the industry at the entrance to the firth, to the long inlet which stretches all the way to Dingwall. Breathtaking, whatever the weather. Just quite annoying that I didn't manage to get any photos as I was driving. Sorry.
